Advanced Training in Intervention Strategies for Professionals. 

With Dr Vanessa Spiller, Clinical Psychologist, FASD Educator, Author, and Parent to a young adult with complex neurodiversities.

 

This full-day training builds on the knowledge gained in the FASD Foundations training for professionals. 
 
In this Masterclass, you will learn how to understand and map complex behavioural symptoms such as stealing, confabulation and physical aggression and design brain-based interventions to address these using the "Explained by Brain framework".
 
Based on the books "Explained by Brain" and "Mind the Gaps" by Dr Vanessa Spiller and drawing from national and
international research, participants will learn practical skills to assist individuals with highly complex issues.
 
This training includes:
  
Review the impact of alcohol on the developing brain
 
Use the "Ability Wheel" to map  abilities and complex behavioural symptoms, including stealing, verbal and physical aggression, confabulation and perseveration
 
Understand and incorporate additional diagnoses and the impact of trauma
 
Explore intervention sequencing from a brain-based perspective
 
Learn about "Levels of Functioning" and how this impacts functioning and intervention in FASD
 
Learn about "Levels of Functioning" and how this impacts functioning and interventions in FASD
 
Learn to map parenting and behaviour management strategies to explore those most and least likely to be successful
 
Use the "Ability Wheel" and "Levels of Functioning" to communicate support needs to schools and the NDIS

Completion of FASD Foundation training is a prerequisite for all Masterclass Level training.

  •  To receive a refund, written notice of cancellatios must be provided in 10  working days (2 weeks) prior to the workshop date. The cancellation policy is final and not negotiable.

  • In the event of presenter cancellation, training will be transferred to an alternative date.
  • The workshop running is subject to a minimum number of enrolments.

  • Upon completion of the training, a certificate of completion will be issued via email.
  • Pre and post-training evaluations are optional, and any information collected may be de-identified, published and used for quality assurance.
