Support Strategies for Parents and Carers. 

With Dr Vanessa Spiller, Clinical Psychologist, FASD Educator, Author, and Parent to a young adult with complex neurodiversities.

 

 
This full-day online FASD training picks up where the Foundations Training ended. Children with FASD have complex behavioural symptoms. multiple other diagnoses and may have experienced trauma. This is a lot for parents and carers to understand and manage daily.
 
Based on the books "Explained by Brain" and "Mind the Gaps" by Dr Vanessa Spiller, this training draws on national and
international research and translates it into practical parenting strategies and approaches.  
 
This training will:
 
Revise the brain domains impacted in FASD. 
 
Explore in detail common behavioural symptoms of FASD - confabulation, stealing, verbal and physical aggression and perseveration and why these occur.
 Develop strategies for understanding and addressing these.
 
Learn how to condense complex reports and assessments into simple tools such as the "Ability Wheel" and "Levels of Functioning."
 
Learn how to use these tools to explain and advocate for the support your child needs at school and with the NDIS.

Completion of FASD Foundation training is a prerequisite for all Masterclass Level training.

  • Pricing is not inclusive of GST.  
  •  To receive a refund, written notice of cancellatios must be provided in 10  working days (2 weeks) prior to the workshop date. The cancellation policy is final and not negotiable.
  • Registrations can be transferred to another person. 
  • JumpStart Psychology is not responsible for any personal circumstances that prevent your attendance.
  • In the event of presenter cancellation, training will be transferred to an alternative date.
  • The workshop running is subject to a minimum number of enrolments.
  • Your attendance is subject to full payment being received
  • Upon completion of the training, a certificate of completion will be issued via email.
  • Pre and post-training evaluations are optional, and any information collected may be de-identified, published and used for quality assurance.
